The perks of pregnancy

Pictures taken by Aubrey Zaruba

My very favorite piece of maternity clothing is this striped red maxi skirt that I got from PinkBlush Maternity last week.  It is so comfortable, perfect for work or casual wear, and doesn't make me feel frumpy or gross like so many maternity clothes.  If you are expecting a baby or know someone who is, I will recommend Pink Blush Maternity in a second for the best trendy maternity clothing.  It is far and away the cutest place to go for maternity clothes.

Sunglasses: H&M

My hair is thick, my boobs are big, I haven't had to worry about a period for months and everywhere I go people open the door for me and offer to help me with my bags.

This pregnancy thing ain't half bad.

No one ever told me ahead of time about all the good stuff.  Oh, I knew all about every pregnancy inconvience, let me assure you.  I heard plenty about first trimester nausea (it sucks!), how fat you feel (it's true!), how you always have to go pee (seriously. Twice a class period now), but why didn't anyone tell me about the perks?  Because seriously, there's some pretty rocking perks!

The period thing to start with.  It is beyond awesome that I no longer have to track days and carry around tampons just in case and deal with the whole mess.  Periods are inconvenient and gross.  Not having a period is AWESOME.

My hair!  My thick, gorgeous hair!  Seriously.  My hair is more rocking than it ever has been in my life.  I know it's all going to fall out the second I have my baby, but sheesh, am I enjoying it now.  I can go four days without washing it or curling it, and it still looks stellar.  STELLAR!

And there are other perks.  Like the fact that I no longer make people feel bad about doing things for me.  Mostly Greg.  He gets me glasses of water at night or runs to the car for the gift I left there or goes to the garage to try to find a board game.  He does it willingly as can be and I don't feel a bit guilty for making him run my errands for me.

Oh- and not only is my own husband  more willing to help me out, but so are perfect strangers!  I was in Smiths the other day for a couple of quick items.  Well, I'll be, they were having a sale on powerade so somehow I ended up with eight big bottles of powerade in my little basket and with my other hand I was unsuccessfully trying to balance a dozen donuts. (Powerade and donuts- winning!)  A man came out of nowhere and said, "Ma'am!  How can I help you!  Let me carry your basket for you, please.  Or better yet, take my cart.  Here!  You want my cart?"  And he practically shoved his cart at me.  I took it, naturally.  It was the darndest thing.

Also, everyone is always asking me how I feel.  Which I think is just a really nice thing to ask anyone, pregnant or not.  I feel a lot of things right now!  How nice that people want to know!

And last not not least, Greg said he thinks I have never looked more feminine than I do right now.  Well, sheesh, now I'm blushing.

I figure if you want to know about all the inconveniences of pregnancy, there are plenty and plenty of websites you can go to find them.  But these here, my friends, are the perks!

Oh, and while we're talking about awesome things about pregnancy, PinkBlushMaternity is giving away a $25 gift certificate to their store.  Enter to win on the rafflecopter below.  If you have won a giveaway from PinkBlush within the past six months you are not eligible to win this giveaway.  Boo. :(

  3. My hair was a.m.a.z.I.n.g while I was pregers also. Now, it's been brutal watching it all fall out. Not everyone goes through the shedding phase so hopefully it skips you. Your lookin great girl! Little bit longer!!! Exciting!

  7. What a lovely post . . . I loved being pregnant! It is an amazing feel and I bet you'll miss it, although holding that sweet baby will be even better!

  8. I agree! I love that people offer to open doors and always ask how you feel, being pregnant. My friend told me, though, that once you have the baby, they don't offer anymore. You could be balancing a baby carrier, diaper bag and stroller and people just let you do it alone. We will see if that is true. Enjoy! You look awesome in that dress!

  9. I've been seeing lots of pregnancy perks lately, and I'm loving it! Also, I have those same wedges but my nephew insisted I get the silver because he liked them best, they are so comfy! I will say I am insanely jealous of anyone who says they have great hair during pregnancy because mine is so gross. Like, never been worse. I skipped out completely on the morning sickness/nausea/tiredness though so I guess it's a draw! You look great!!

  11. There are definitely some pregnancy perks! The only one I am not a fan of is everyone asking me how I am I feeling. Mostly because I don't really like talking about myself all that much! But the rest of them? Definitely huge perks!

  12. You are beautiful! I haven't been pregnant but this makes it seem just a little less horrible, which I definitely appreciate. As for not having a period- BEST THING EVER. I got the Nexplanon implant birth control which was a huge life-changer. No babies, no periods, no having to remember pills for 3 years!

  13. I loved being pregnant! Of course there are all the obvious downsides to it, but I have never loved anything more. The hair, the nails, the kindness if strangers, feeling the baby move inside me...even though I am SO not ready to so it again, I almost can't wait to have the experience again. Love this post!!!

  14. Those perks don't sound so bad at all! I have heard some of the not-so-good stuff for sure, so it's refreshing to hear the other side!

  15. I talk too much about the bad because I had the opposite experience. All I ever heard was the good (or maybe that's all I wanted to hear?) and I was quite shocked at how horrible it was (I was sick the WHOLE TIME) But I should probably chill out a little when I warn people about the bad stuff :)

Also I totally just entered a maternity giveaway. I guess I'll be pregnant again SOMEDAY, but kind of weird for now ha!

  16. So true! Strangers are so much nicer to you when you're pregnant, opening doors and just going out of their way to be nice, love that part! People should be that nice all the time! Love that dress on you too, looks great and totally not maternity at all, and I'm sure you can wear it post pregnancy too!

  18. I just had my baby 2 weeks ago and although I told myself I wouldn't miss it, I totally miss being pregnant. It's the strangest thing. You can't wait to have them out, and then you want to have them back in wiggling and moving around. Oh and just wait till your milk comes in..boobs galore!

  22. Yes! ALl of these are so true! I think everyone loves a pregnant woman, and I loved all the positive attention it brought. That, and I automatically couldn't help move/pick up anything. Oh! And no sucking it in when wearing a bathing suit. I loved that;)
