The Life of Bon: Grinding

Grinding

This week I work four days.  I worked today and normally after a school day I get a day off, but I have to go to an extra training tomorrow, meaning I'll work three days in a row.  I don't think I have realized how much I need those days in between work days to recoup, to regather, to reenergize.  And to get my house and baby and life in order.  Thinking about going into work tomorrow and then going in again on Wednesday makes me want to cry.  How do moms do it with such little babes that work every day?  I give mad props- it is exhausting and a lot of work. All I want to do tomorrow is stay home and fold laundry and cuddle my baby and decorate the house for fall.  When a woman wants to fold laundry, you know there's a problem. Thursday, I keep telling myself.  I just have to make it to Thursday.

Thank you for all of your fabulous comments on yesterday's post about nursing and low milk supply.  I guess it's proof that if you really want to get a group of women to talk, just ask them about breastfeeding.  Notice that no men commented on the post?  I haven't had a chance to respond to your helpful comments yet, but I will hopefully tomorrow.  Eight hour trainings are good for something, right?

And now, I'm off to pump.
And then to shower because I smell like milk.
And then to bed.
5:40 comes so freaking early.

To get you out of your Tuesday grind:

+ Loved this link on using facebook to promote your blog.  I admit, there is so much that I don't know about facebook (and so much they won't tell us about their algorithm!) that I loved these helpful hints.

+ I have toyed with the idea of getting a separate Instagram account for my blog and for my personal life.  Would you ever do that?  Here's great advice on how to juggle multiple ig accounts

+Died of happiness when I read this article on the benefits of reading actual books.  I am printing 130 copies and studying this article with all of my little I-hate-reading! students.  That'll teach em!

This seven layer bean dip is my absolute favorite salty snack and Aubrey nailed the recipe.  If you don't already make this, you need to!

+ I am the worst at thrift store shopping, but this post makes me think there might be hope for me yet.  Who out there is good at it and tell us all your tricks!

  1. Maybe I could come over and fold your laundry for you? I am totally obsessed with doing laundry. I am such a weirdo.... I am curious though, why did you go back to work so early? .. Maybe I worded that wrong. In Canada we are entitled to 1 year maternity/paternity leave - is that not a luxury given in the US?

  2. Eek sorry you don't have any time to recoup this week! You'll make it through and hopefully be able to enjoy an extra restful weekend! Good luck Bon!

  3. Yes you can come do my laundry ANY DAY! In the U.S. are only entitled to 12 weeks of unpaid maternity leave. I went back after 8 weeks because that is what my school would pay for. The every other day set up is ideal, it's just weeks like this with trainings that end up being killer. I would LOVE a year off like they give in Canada but they don't take care of us as good over here I guess. Do you get a year of PAID maternity leave?

  5. I will be there soon! Laundry will be done!!! 12 weeks?!?! That seems like such a tease. In Canada it is 1 year PAID, maternity leave. The government will pay you 55% of your income, so although it is not full pay, it's better than nothing right? Then on top of that there are different things you can apply for to receive other financial compensation (such as child tax benefit, depending on your household income you can get some more financial help).. We pay higher taxes but I think it comes full circle at one time or another; whether you need to go to the doctor/hospital, or receive some government financial help.... Wow, I totally don't mean to come across as "my country is better than your country" or "yay taxes" (taxes always suck), but it definitely is interesting to compare the two!!

  6. oh my goodness! you are a trooper. I was thinking to myself last night how do pregnant women work 40+ hour weeks plus do what they do at home! I'm dying! but every situation is different, and our bodies are used to certain things. But that for sure throws off a week when you throw in an 8 HOUR(!!!) training. holy moly! If you need anything let me know :) I'd be happy to come help! :)

  7. I have never worked so really don't know much about this although my daughter is working, studying and taking care of the family all at the same time

  8. I agree- so interesting to compare! I heard, though, that there are lots of things in Canada that are way more expensive because so much is taxed. My friend told me it cost him $17 to go to a movie. Is that true?

  9. Oh, April, you're so sweet! Being pregnant definitely takes its toll on your body, though, you're totally entitled to feel tired! I took constant naps when I was pregnant!

  11. Would you ever consider looking for a school that would allow you to work part time? I agree that I think fulltime would drive me to tears- doing four days this week about dang near killed me- and that was with the promise of only working one day next week. I couldn't do five day week after five day week. I would die!

  12. I want to testify that my wife is back after a Divorce !!!

Hello to every one out here, am here to share the unexpected miracle that happened to me three days ago, My name is Jeffrey Dowling,i live in Texas,USA.and I`m happily married to a lovely and caring wife, with two kids A very big problem occurred in my family seven months ago, between me and my wife so terrible that she took the case to court for a divorce she said that she never wanted to stay with me again, and that she did not love me anymore So she packed out of my house and made me and my children passed through severe pain. I tried all my possible means to get her back, after much begging, but all to no avail and she confirmed it that she has made her decision, and she never wanted to see me again. So on one evening,as i was coming back from work,i met an old friend of mine who asked of my wife So i explained every thing to her,so she told me that the only way i can get my wife back,is to visit a spell caster, because it has really worked for her too So i never believed in spell, but i had no other choice, than to follow her advice. Then she gave me the email address of the spell caster whom she visited.(bravespellcaster@gmail.com}, So the next morning,i sent a mail to the address she gave to me,and the spell caster assured me that i will get my wife back the next day what an amazing statement!! I never believed,so he spoke with me,and told me everything that i need to do. Then the next morning, So surprisingly, my wife who did not call me for the past seven {7}months,gave me a call to inform me that she was coming back So Amazing!! So that was how she came back that same day, with lots of love and joy,and she apologized for her mistake, and for the pain she caused me and my children. Then from that day,our relationship was now stronger than how it were before,by the help of a spell caster . So, was now stronger than how it were before,by the help of a spell caster . So, i will advice you out there to kindly visit the same website http://bravespellcaster.yolasite.com,if you are in any condition like this,or you have any problem related to “bringing your ex back. So thanks to Dr Brave for bringing back my wife, and brought great joy to my family once again.{bravespellcaster@gmail.com} , Thanks.,

  13. Um, I might have if I didn't find a job as a nanny and then accidentally get pregnant with Axel. Now I'm living my dream of designing baby and toddler clothes. It's going slow but I'm hoping it will pick up and I'll have my hands full :)
