The Life of Bon: Hello Pinterest. I have something to say.

Hello Pinterest. I have something to say.

Oh... Hey there, Pinterest.  It's me... Bonnie.  You probably don't know me very well, because, well, I have never come visit you.  Not even once.  Okay fine, I lied.  I visited you once.  Fine!  Twice.  But one time was just to kife a bunch of pictures from you, and I don't think that really counts, do you?

Here's the deal, Pinterest.  I think you've been interested in me for a while now.  I see you trying to lure me over to you every chance you get.  You're all over the place.  Blogs, facebook, twitter, I can't turn around without seeing you tantalizing me, beckoning me with that perfectly painted fingernail of yours.  You want me to join you.  And I do admit, at times I have been tempted, sorely tempted, to hop on board and give in to your pure seduction.  But I'm going to hold strong here.  I ain't caving.

Because listen.  A lot of girls can really really enjoy spending time with you.  They feel invigorated, inspired, motivated by you.  I'm not that way.  You would suck the life out of me.  You would make me feel uncute, uncrafty, and un-good-cook-y (Made that term up myself!).  You bring out all my insecurities.  I really like the person that I am, and I like that I like me.  (Think about it, Pinterest, that's deep!)  I am remotely aware that a lot of girls do a lot of other things better than I do, but I just don't need to be reminded of that every day.  The recipes wouldn't inspire me, they'd depress me.  The crafts wouldn't excite me, they'd overwhelm me.  And the outfits.  Oh, the outfits.  Bonnie can't have what Bonnie can't buy, so what's the point in pining away over beautiful boots and dainty dresses?

Simply put, you're just not my type, and I'm convinced I'd be absolutely miserable with you.  I hope you understand.  There's so many other girls who will be happier with you, so please, by all means, go and pursue them.  Don't mourn for me.  And definitely don't wait for me.  Because I'll never come.  I'd rather be spending my time with books.  Or ice cream shops.  Or reality TV.  Or cuddle sessions.  Just not with you.

With utmost respect,

    -Bunnie <3

  2. haha this is so funny. I see what ya mean, but....I think you need to give it another try! I've found some of the easiest recipes of my life on that site :)

  3. pintrest overwhelms me a little and yeah, it can weigh on a girl's self esteem. it is also a HUGE time suck, i have been able to escape it's lure so far but i have a feeling i will be in it's grips soon enough!

    i am weak like that.

  4. baahaha love this! following you now! (thanks for following me)

oh man. i always feel un-good-cook-y

  5. We are so alike.
I hate Pinterest for all those reasons.
It makes me feel stupid, lazy, uncreative, and poor.
    I love you.

  6. Too late for me. I've already been sucked in. In fact, I think I'll head over right now for some hair tutorials I'll never have time, patience, or skill to do.

  7. You took the words right out of my mouth. No, really. I just wrote about this too!! I'm glad I'm not the only one who isn't a pin-er.

Oh, and Mamarazzi sent me....doesn't that usually mean I'm in for a super discount??

  8. Ha ha. Loves this!!!

  9. That is hysterical! I totally understand, but sadly, I need a 12 step Pinterest program. I'm too far gone to stop now.

I think maybe I need to write a similar post about Martha Stewart!

  10. I had a very vivid dream- I was trying to finish my schooling (in year two of a five year program) and a dear friend was telling me that if I wanted to succeed that I would need to never visit pinterest at all. "Not even once?" NO!! "Not even to check out some ideas for that thing I really need to do?? NO!!
And so went the battle with my friend (don't recognize her from real life!)

HA HA!! Maybe it was you in my dream!! warning me of what pinterest will REALLY do for me!!
    Love your blog!!

  11. LOL! This is hilarious. As someone who has pinned waaayyy too much in the past, I can honestly say you have the right idea. The crafting ideas are overwhelming, all the motivational pictures just make me feel lazy and my closet will never have any of the things I've pinned into "clothes i wish I owned". i'm kinda over it at this point- however, if i'm bored, it passes the time, which makes me very happy sometimes :)

  12. Wow, I am SO with you on that! Part of me is curious, since everyone and their mother is on Pinterest. But I DO NOT have the time for another addiction!

I love your blog! I found it through Mamarazzi. You and I have quite a bit in common (other than the Pinterest thing). I, too, love Diet Coke and grammar. I was once a teacher but now stay at home full time. I will warn you, I start sentences with "But" and "So," even though I know it's incorrect. Sometimes, you just need a big old but.

  13. OMG so well put. I have never visited Pinterest and you list all the reasons why!
