Throwback Thursdays Week 4: Fourth of July Throwback

A SUMMER OF THROWBACK THURSDAYS
BLOG STYLE

Here's how it works:

1.  Every Thursday through August we'll be throwing it back here at thelifeofbon.com.  We want to see pictures of course, but we want the stories that go behind those pictures even more!  And because I'm a total control freak, I've even mapped out a nice little schedule for all of us.  I figure the prompts will make it easier to come up with something to write about every week.

TH  6/13  A memory of learning to drive, your first car or the early driving days.
TH  6/20  Elementary school crush
TH  6/27  Throwback birthday
TH  7/4   Throwback fourth of July
TH  7/11  First job
TH  7/18  Moving away from home
TH  7/25  Memory of one or both of your parents from childhood
TH  8/1   Favorite summer vacation
TH  8/8   Childhood friends
TH  8/15  First kiss
TH  8/22  Memory of a high school teacher or high school class
TH  8/29  Back to school memory

2.  Follow www.thelifeofbon.com, slap that little button somewhere on your post, and link up your Throwback Thursday posts!  I'm so excited to read everybody's stories.

3.  Visit new blogs and make new blog friends.  No duh!

TODAY'S TOPIC:  THROWBACK FOURTH OF JULY

The Fourth of July is the greatest holiday ever invented, is it not?  Well, maybe Christmas.  No...  Definitely Fourth of July.  It's the only summer holiday so that in and of itself makes it awesome.  Grilling and pools and fireworks and staying up all night.  None of those other holidays got any of that great stuff, do they?

For the fourth my family has always loved hitting up the Stadium of Fire- which is basically Utah's craziest fourth event. Some big singer comes (this year it's Kelly Clarkson) and sings and then they light off a bajillion fireworks and everyone freaks out.  It's great.  One year my sister got a firework in her eye and she was convinced she would never see again.  She was fine, of course, but she still talks about it as if it were the most traumatizing event in her life.

Stadium of fire 2010.

In honor of my sister who just had a NINE POUND baby YESTERDAY in GERMANY with NO EPIDURAL, I want to post about my favorite fourth with her.  One summer I was living in California and she was living in Vegas.  I went to visit her for the fourth weekend and we partied like crazy.  It was the only summer we were both "grown up" and single- I was 19, she was 25.  We have hardly ever been in the same "stage" of life, making this holiday especially awesome.  It was like we were best friends, just hanging out for the fourth.

I don't have digital copies of the photos so I had to take pictures of the scrapbook pages I made.

And of course, my most recent Fourth of July throwbacks have been with Greg.  Since we've been married our new 4th tradition is to get onto his parents' roof and watch his town's firework show.  It ain't no stadium of fire, but it will do.
