Barefoot in the Rain

Her first official smiling picture.
Also, thanks Mindy for the outfit.  We love it!

I had a lot to say today.  I really did!  But then I tried to deliver some cupcakes to some people in my neighborhood and before I knew it, it was raining cats and dogs and I was running home barefoot pushing a stroller just as fast as I could.  To any onlooker driving down the street I must have appeared straight up crazy.  Or absolutely desperate.  But no one stopped to give me a lift, so I guess it didn't look that desperate.  I was in a bad way.  Trust me.  I had left before Greg got home, and like all smart people do, I had left my cell phone at home.  Greg was in a dead panic when I came running up the driveway, about ready to take the baby away from me forever and then ring my neck for attempting something as stupid as cupcake delivering with a baby in the rain.  In my defense it wasn't raining when I left.  Also I guarded June with my life and she didn't even get wet.  For all she knew we were just on a leisurely stroll down the block.  That baby.  She ain't got a clue in the world.

If I didn't have work in the morning I'd still crank out a total kick butt post for you.  But I do have work in the morning. Mornings that I teach start at 5:40.  Disgusting!  Not only do I work but after school I have parent teacher conference until 8:00 pm.  That's 14 hours at the school.  YIKES!  Also, tomorrow I am allowing my students to drop tomatoes off of their desks and see which one makes the biggest splatter.  Don't ask don't tell that's what I always say.

I'm soaking wet now and so I'm going to take a hot shower and the crawl into bed and think about absolutely no responsibilities for the next nine hours.  I'll cuddle with Greg and read a good book (I just checked out a whole stack from the library today.  Booyah!) and then fall asleep snuggled deep under my covers while the rain pours outside and my baby sleeps nearby.  Ain't a bad life, huh?

To pick up where I left off, I have Heather to entertain you.  She is one of my favorite single bloggers who has confidence and charisma just oozing from her blog page. All of her posts are entertaining to me, but lately I especially reading this one about her previous marriage.  I can't help it, I always love hearing the dirt!

Good day to all you Life of Bonn-ers...Lifers of Bonn....Life of Bon fans....? Whatever you like to call yourself, hi and welcome to Hump Day and the first day of October! Can you believe it? Time, it just keeps slipping in to the future. I'm Heather and I'm a huge fan of Bonnie. I have loved sponsoring her blog and am ecstatic at the opportunity to write to you all today! Over at my blog, When you're making plans, I talk a lot about what happens when I make plans! I'm single so I talk about dating, living in a small town and about my dog! Today, I'm talking about time, specifically getting older and wiser! Age is a funny thing. They say that with it comes wisdom. I can't argue with that. I think for me, acceptance has come with age. I'm learning to accept more things. I'm approaching my 33rd year and I am satisfied with how I spent the last 32. I think I did what I needed to do so that when I looked back, I have very few wishes of ways it could've/would've been different. So, during a discussion with a friend at work the other day, I've compiled a list of things that I've learned to accept.
  • I will never be super skinny. I have junk in my trunk...well..I have junk everywhere.
  • I will never, ever, ever, ever be a morning person. Hasn't happened, and never will. I'm a true night owl.
  • I drive too fast which causes me to follow too closely. I try to slow down, but it's just not in my nature.
  • I also talk fast too. So, when I have opportunities to speak in public I just have to make a concentrated effort to s...l...o...w... down.
  • I will not be able to keep up with the Jones' or the Smiths' or anyone else. I have what I have and it's good enough for me. Let the person next to me fight for the "one-up."
  • I probably will never win the lottery. Largely due to the fact that I don't buy lottery tickets.
  • I will never have the cleanest car on the block until I have someone that likes to keep it tidy. But my house, that's always in shape.
  • I'm from the South, so there will be an accent occasionally. "Ya'll" keeps me in the "in-crowd" here.
  • I am assertive. I am aggressive. I am direct. And that doesn't mean I'm a nasty word that starts with a "B."
So, while these aren't monumental acknowledgements, they are things I've tried to change or have been working on for some time. But I've learned that it's just who I am. That's me. I'm happy with it.

  1. Well, we made our first mistake with baby Rhys and the rain. Justin and I both grew up in the East with WARM rain. So, we opened all our windows the past few nights for the breeze (free AC) and to listen to the rain. Well, Rhys and I both got a sore throat and stuffy nose and we stayed home in bed, sleeping (or me trying and begging Rhys to) today!
