It's okay if it wasn't though. I spent a lot of my Memorials Days working at Sizzler and feeling left out because I wasn't barbecuing and camping like the rest of the world. Now I barbecue and camp and I kind of miss Sizzler. Weird how that works.
We spent a little bit of time at the cemetery this afternoon. Greg and I met up with my mom and my siblings and we left flowers for my dad. I still can't visit my dad's grave without crying, but every time it's a little bit easier.
And now it's back to school for me tomorrow for just this week and then two days next week. It is going to be absolutely insane this week and I'm hitting the hay early to be ready for tomorrow's madness. Thank you for this post Bon. I, like you, didn't spend my weekend eating burnt hotdogs or getting drunk with my friends. Though I didn't have the chance to visit my loved ones in their resting places, I reflected a lot on the loved ones I have that have passed on. Even though it's hard, I think it's one of the most important things we can do. I teared up at the part about your father and daughter hanging out. Such a sweet thing to think about <3

Spent a lot of time thinking about those who gave their lives for our freedom while hanging out with family! Was able to enjoy a nice dinner out on Monday with my husband, a US Navy Sailor, and some of our best friends who also serve! They make me very proud!!

We didn't grill out for Memorial Day but I got to spend it with my husband who is in the military so that was a blessing & humbling knowing that there are so many wives out there who didn't get to welcome their husband home from war like I did. I'm definitely thankful for times like Memorial Day to re-focus my perspective!

I'm glad you and your family were able to spend some time together this weekend. My husband had to work but we definitely took some time to remember those from his battalion who didn't make it back from Afghanistan.

So many fake testimonies here filled with much lies and deceit, I have been a victim of such and it hurts my feelings badly.
