I'm in a bit of a funk today. I'm blaming it on February. A February Funk, if you will.
I worked so hard to get through January. I mean, come on, that sucker was 31 days with five Tuesdays, 5 Wednesdays and 5 Thursdays! I thought that bad boy was never going to end. Approaching the end of January feels like such an accomplishment. YES! I can do hard things!
But then as soon as I'm done with January, BAM, I've got February staring me in the face. A whole nother month of the same old thing. Snowstorms, cold, darkness, more winter.
So today I'm just funking on by. So totally immersed in a deep and serious official funk.
A couple of things that are helping me out of my funk:
+ Cake batter frozen yogurt with strawberries on top. I found a frozen yogurt hut on my route to work and I've been stopping every day of the week at 3:45. Religiously. What can I say, when you find something good you don't mess with it.
+ A puzzle I've been working on. I've been strangely obsessed with puzzles this winter. My mind constantly yearns for activity and stimulation but at the same time is screaming for relaxation. Somehow the puzzle does both. I find it so totally relaxing to turn off every part of my brain except for the one part that is desperately trying to put shapes together. I swear, it's a form of therapy.
+Hubs. He has such a cute skinny waist and when I put my arms around him I can't help but want to squeeze him forever and ever. And since when was it okay for a man to be skinnier than his wife?
+ Remembering the goodness of God. He has always been good to me and He will continue to be.
+ Two episodes of Bachelor this week. Have the Bachelor gods gone completely nuts? In my entire career (Yes, it is a career, dang it!) of Bachelor watching I have never seen this.
+ This blog. I don't know how it happened, but somehow this blog has completely enriched my life. I didn't know when I started it that this blog would become so totally important to me, would bring me so much satisfaction and joy. I am immensely grateful for all of you- for the relationships I have made, for the online buddies I harrass on twitter, for the sweet comments on posts. Thank you all who read and comment and share. This blogging thing kicks butt.
+ A past sponsor just asked me a question about hosting her first giveaway. She said she asked me because I was the nicest person she had worked with so far. Either she's totally lying or she's only worked with two people in her blogging career, but still it makes a girl feel good all the same. Sometimes being nice is so hard. And sometimes it's really easy.
+ Hot bubble baths and books. As soon as I'm done I'm diving in the tub and not taking my phone, just a good old fashioned book. And I'm not coming out until I'm good and pruney. So let it be written. So let it be done.
Now that I have depressed the living daylights out of you, I am so excited to introduce Richelle to you. Richelle is the owner of the blog and shop Indigo Bean Creations. Here is the truth of how this all came about. I was wasting time on the internet, like I often do, surfing blogs, etc, when I came across Richelle's blog. I don't normally seek out shop owners to do giveaways but I saw Richelle's jewelry and I thought that I absolutely must have that on my blog. And on my neck. Her jewelry is so unique and beautiful it really does stand out from the hundreds of etsy shops out there.
So I asked Richelle if she's into giving her stuff away for free and lucky me, she said yes! She hooked me up with the most gorgeous earrings and necklace. I haven't taken the earrings off for a week and a half. They're that great.
And now she's going to give one of you lucky readers the chance to win $25 worth of jewelry at her shop. And for the rest of you out there, she's going buck wild and giving you 20% off of your entire order. Just enter in LIFEOFBON at check out and you're hooked up.
Mandatory to enter the giveaway: follow Life of Bon, visit Indigo Bean and leave a comment stating what jewelry you would buy if you won the giveaway. The rest is optional. Giveaway closes Thursday night at midnight.
Oh, and if any of you want to send me some Indigo Bean jewelry to lift me out of this awful February funk, well, you know... no one's going to stop you....
Now go win yourself some jewelry!

ReplyDeletei'm in a funk, too, but i think you kind of knew that, seeing as how i posted about it the other day and you commented on it (thanks! i feel so special when bloggers with lots of followers come across picky and its little crop).
ReplyDeleteit's gloomy. all across the country, i think. in my neck of the woods, it was warm and sunny with heavy clouds on the horizon, and now the clouds are hovering, and the sun is setting, and it's oppressive. it doesn't feel like winter outside. it doesn't look it, either. and yet, it's barely six p.m. here, and... just. ugh.
i want to join your book club. i'm trying to read a hundred books this year. it didn't sound like such a hard goal, and i can be a voracious reader. but i've only read six so far. the last two for january (east of eden--UGH--and the book thief) aren't holding my attention so well, and the steam i had has vaporized into nothingness.
Or the kallie ones! :)
ReplyDeleteOH! and speaking of books... ellen shanman's right before your eyes. LOVE IT. everyone i've recommended it to has loved it as well.
