A Valentines Day poem. For my brother.

Gotcha!  The poem is for Greg... not my brother...

But can you imagine the weirdness?

A little love for my love

Dearest Hubs on the morning before this Valentines Day

I wish to write you a poem- I have something to say!

I'll always remember the first time I talked to you,

How you were so nervous I thought you had the flu,

You stuttered and stammered and could barely utter a word

I have to admit, I thought you were quite the nerd!

But somehow you stole my heart with your silly accents,

Indian, British, and Irish- none of them made sense!

I thought it would never happen, but finally you stole a kiss,

It was on a hot summer night- the other boys I never did miss.

Now we've got two years of marriage under our belt,

And when you cook me dinner my heart melts,

Falling asleep you tell me about your dreams and goals,

and I tell you about teaching the little hoodlum souls.

Times are good even as we watch Jazz games together,

And hey, if they could win more often it would be even better!

We go to movies and play volleyball and have lots of fun,

We make jokes and laugh at each other until the day is done.

I know it's not always sunshine and roses,

There have been times where I wanted to tear off your toes-es!

I am sorry if sometimes I act too brisk,

but it's only because you always beat me in "Risk."

Thanks for the jokes and the faces and the laughs,

Even though you think it's gross when I pass gas.

I'm so happy I found you- I don't know how I got so lucky

I always love you, even when our fights get mucky.

I can't wait for our future and all the memories we'll make,

For the babies, the birthdays, the cabin by the lake.

And when we are all grown and old and our life has passed

I know I will go on loving you until the very last.

Also, as I was writing this, Greg sitting next to me said in a pathetic little boy voice, "Bonnie... Dan makes fun of me at work for how much you talk about how much you like me on your blog."

HA!  Am I the only one who finds that completely adorable?
