LET'S TALK ABOUT BODY IMAGE. Or something.

Skirt:  Downeast Outfitters (Similar here.)  Tee:  Downeast Outfitters

Well, folks.  I've discovered some very alarming facts about myself and my body.  That body ain't doin for me what it used to do for me, and that's why we are going to talk today about BODY IMAGE because I'm having some issues!

FIRST OFF:  My fingernails are as ugly as they come.  Given, this is because I bite them down to stubs.  If they ever have nail polish on them, I bite all the nail polish off within two days.  It's a nervous habit.  Or more like a bored habit.  When I have nothing to do, I unknowingly go to town on my nails.  The only thing that seemed to semi help for about a week was shellac.  But let's face it, ain't nobody got time to be getting a manicure every week.  Or money, for that matter.

SECONDLY:  Red lipstick.

I have been given a lot of guff in my day for donning the bright red lipstick.  Greg teases me about it and says I can't kiss him when I'm wearing it because then everybody knows we been kissing.  I told him I think they know already.  The truth is I know Greg secretly likes the red lipstick. Or at least I tell myself he does so that I can still wear it whenever I want.  My brothers teased me a whole lot when I first started wearing it big and bright but then they moved on to other, more important things- like the way I throw a basketball.  The point is this.  I might not rock the red lipstick like Emma Stone or T. Swift but I rock it in my own way and that's what's important! Confidence, people!

POINT NUMERO THREE:

It has come to my attention that my arm is totally messed up.  Some would say disjointed.  I noticed this when I was at the gym yesterday lifting weights.  Actually, I just wanted to tell you all that I went to the gym. We can move on from this point.

No, but for reals, will you check out how messed up the arm on the right looks?  This is confusing to write because technically isn't it my left arm?  But it's on the right? The east arm...?  Let's go with that.  Check out the east arm.  The non braceleted arm.  Can you see how the elbow is totally pointing the wrong way?  Look at the elbow compared to the wrist.  That's not the way an arm is supposed to bend, am I right?  And thank my lucky stars that Greg didn't notice this before we got married or heavens knows I never would have caught myself a mate!

Number four:

My lazy eye is getting worse.  Please observe said picture.

I've always had a lazy eye.  I accepted it when I was eight and a half.  But the other day I was curling my hair, no big deal, staring in the mirror and I started thinking, "Man, what the freak is up with my eyes?"  Then I started to wonder... is this the permanent state of my eyes?!  Is one always smaller than the other?  Is my natural resting face that of such a total and utter creepster?

I hope you understand where I'm coming from, guys.  These are the things that keep me up at night.  That, and the fact that my second toe is growing larger than my big toe.  But the fact is I don't think I'm getting another body so I figure... love the one you're with, you know?  It's me and this body for another 60 years or so I might as well get on loving it.

Glad we had this talk.  I feel so much better.

Love this! This body is the only one your gonna get, you gotta learn to love it and accept it! I personally think that red lipstick looks great on any woman. It's all about the confidence when she wears it!

  2. Hahaha! I have super double jointed arms. They are super skinny and scraggily (?) so they are just so awkward looking. My cheerleading coach wouldn't let me perform at homecoming in high school because she said they looked too freaky. That really helped my awkward teenage confidence issues. Hahaha.

  4. My eyes do the same thing. I always say I would get a facelift, but (like yours) it's only noticeable when I point it out :)

  5. My eyes have issues. I realized it was getting worse this year when a couple students asked me if I was talking to them because I wasn't looking at them. ugh. I focus too much on it now and worry that my eyes are going crazy!

  6. I think there is something really fortuitous, maybe in Chinese mythology or something about having a longer second tow. I think you should count this as a good thing. Red lippie. Go for it. And with the eye thing, can you adopt a sort of cocked eyebrow above it as part of your normal apace. It would suggest a quizzical and skeptical awareness of the weirdness of the world around you and make you look like a cool philosopher. Otherwise you are a perfect human being - flawed!

  9. On ring finger on my right hand doesn't straighten--it I always bent. My eyes are crooked so a lot of the times it looks like my glasses are crooked when in reality, it is just my eyes that are uneven

  11. My 2nd tow has always been longer than my "big" toe. I figure if you think of it, our 2nd finger is longer than our thumb. LOL

  13. Oh my, you are funny! You are amazing and beautiful and perfect the way you are:) I also have weird elbows that turn in ways they shouldn't...not to mention the other 5,397 I could pick out that are just wrong. BUT, what are some things you do like about yourself, I bet there are a lot!

  14. Supposedly if your second toe is longer than the first it means that you are the "dominant" person in your relationship or that you "wear the pants." I don't know where I even heard that...

  15. Confession...I have deformed toes. It's a good thing the hubs doesn't have a foot fetish cuz I never would have caught him if he did. Right foot...fourth toe is shorter than my pinkie toe. All my toes (except the self-proclaimed "Big" toes) are very short. But that fourth toe on the right foot is fugly. If you follow me on Instagram (@martins4ne) you can see. Now I have a surgical scar from removing a nerve last month to make that freak toe even more noticeable.

I guess we all have issues...

  17. My arm does that too! It's hyper extended. Are you flexible anywhere else? It always used to look kinda funny when I was in gymnastics. I feel ya on the lazy eye. A blogger with lazy eye? Oh well. What can we do. : 0

  18. Oh gosh I could go on and on about my list! My stubby fat toes, my weak brittle nails, my stupid cowlicks, or the one rib that sticks out further from the rest.. Guess these are just some of the quirks that we have to live with!

  19. Haha, I love this post. I could go on and on telling you about my list, but I'm learning to embrace MY lazy eye, my big ears, and my weird long second toe.

  20. I have been noticing lately that one of my eyes seems bigger than the other. How I went over 23 years without noticing completely baffles me! I am beginning to think that it is a lazy eye, but my friends swear it isn't. I am glad to know that at least somebody else has one eye that is bigger!

  21. I have a lazy eye too. It only gets lazy if I'm really tired or if I've been staring at a computer screen for too long. But I'm super self-conscious about it.

  22. Ok I love red lipstick I don't wear nail polish as my nails look aweful thirdly your lazy eye is noticable in the last photo but not in the first so honestly I don't think it is something you should worry about

  23. Thanks for the bit about the lazy eye! It's nice to know I'm not the only one who thinks that way. I've known I have a lazy eye since 2009 but it took a dr looking at it last summer for my mom to believe me and these days I feel it's getting worse as well! Stressful :/

  24. I had to comment because I have a lazy eyelid too. I feel like it's getting worse. I had to take a picture last night to send to a casting company and it was after a long day of work so I must have been tired because my crazy eyes were on display! My husband even noticed. It was worse because one of my eyebrows had decided to be extra perky over top of the lazy eye so my eyes AND my eyebrows did not match up. It was a total mess. haha...

  25. Dude, both of my elbows totally do that. I call it double jointed. And I have been that way for as long as I can remember. It may be strange but I kinda love that they are like that. It is always fun to see other's reactions when they see it for the first time!
