+ Last night I attended our second blogging roundtable. It was fantastic. It feels good to talk nothing but blog for two (or three!) hours with people who don't get sick of hearing about sponsors or link ups or giveaways. The company was divine. When I started blogging I never imagined I would make such good friends in the process. That'd be what we call a perk! (Photos and more details to come.)
+ My best friend straight up stood me up tonight. The night was unbelievably gorgeous- 70 degrees and no wind. We were set to play some tennis at 6:30. She never showed. I texted and called to no avail. Finally I left the empty tennis courts on a perfect spring night. It felt like a sin. I don't love being stood up. It reminds me of when I dated a Bolivian who stood me up on the reg. I guess there were a lot of jerks before I met old Hubs.
+ Because tennis didn't work out and I felt like I needed to do something active to combat the 1.5 hours I spend driving every day, I dragged my feet to the gym. While there I tried doing a move I have no business doing (I watch other people and then try to copy their moves. Doesn't always work) and pulled that hip muscle right out of where it is supposed to be. I heard it pull, I felt it pull. I even let out a little "Ahh!" when it happened and the buff boys bulking up looked at me like I was some kind of chump. They would be correct on that one.
+ I have not been sleeping enough. Yesterday I fell asleep during 7th period. They were taking a test and I just sat there at my desk grading an essay and all of a sudden the bell rang! I think I was only out for a couple of minutes, but geezers! A teacher falling asleep in class, who's ever heard of it?
+ As per the point above, today I fell asleep at a traffic light. I knew it was going to be a long one because I sit at that traffic light every day and it's a left turn and it's always at least two minutes, maybe three! So I closed my eyes for just one second at that red light and next thing I knew the car behind me was honking up a storm. I'll be hitting the hay early tonight, folks.
+I switched up the seating charts today. In her journal one very shy girl in the class confessed to me that she has a crush on Jeff, a cute, nice boy in the class. Naturally I moved her and Jeff next to each other. I'm hoping she works up the nerve to say a couple of words to him. Just call me matchmaker, kiddos!
+I asked a fellow teacher today if we could borrow some of his classroom books for Banned Book Club next month. He said no. Teachers, why you gotta be prudes?
+ I am beyond excited about the giveaway that I am participating in today. It's probably the most creative giveaway ever. $300 travelocity hotel gift cards and $100 Victoria Secret gift card so you can go on a sexy beach getaway. Also, I have major issues with balance, if you haven't noticed. I'll go a month without doing a giveaway and then BAM, three giveaways in one week. I realize it's ridiculous and terribly inconsistent but at least I recognize it for what it is? That's worth something? Maybe? (Shabby Apple giveaway here and J. Crew giveaway here.)
+Ok I seriously have to go. My hip is killing. Time to soak in the tub. No more gym for me. Ever.

You are the coolest teacher! If I was that girl my day would have been made. And then is be totally self conscious for the entire period! I heart you!!
ReplyDeleteWell, since I would love to win, I'll leave my comment now. :) I'm getting married in the fall, so it'd be awesome to go somewhere like Myrtle Beach or Florida for my honeymoon!
ReplyDeleteBON YOU CANNOT TAUNT ME WITH BEACHES AND BIKINIS AND THEN I CANNOT ENTER. But I guess you just did and I will be back tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteWe're honeymooning in Cancun but maybe Jamaica or punta Cana!
ReplyDeleteLeaving my comment early as well :) I'd love to go to Del Mar and lay on the beach with the hubs. We've been married now for 2.5 years and have never had a honeymoon. We spent all the money we had to throw our wedding, and we have a son that the rest of our hard earned cash goes to. As I'm sure everyone knows spending time with your significant other is super crucial to a relationship and we just don't get enough time together. I go to school full time for accounting, he just finished his masters. We both work full time for a military affiliated company that begs for us to work overtime as well. Hubs was first on foot at the start of the war and had to dig holes in the ground to sleep for 40 straight days (food truck three days behind them and no shower for 34 days). I'd like to show him you can do other things in the sand besides have to dig for safety. This would be such an awesome trip for us :)
ReplyDeleteMy best friend is getting married next month!! It would be AMAZING to go on a mini BFF trip to a beach somewhere!!!!
ReplyDeleteTake me to those little over-the-water beach huts in Bora Bora please!!
ReplyDeleteI would like to go to Quebec City this summer, so maybe I would use the giftcard there. That's a tough question though, there are so many places that I want to go!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure where we'd go, but as a soon-to-be newlywed, I'd put the whole package to good use! ;)
ReplyDeleteI would love to use that trip to celebrate my anniversary this summer!
ReplyDeleteI would use the trip to take the hubby back to Virginia. We honeymooned there :)
ReplyDeleteI would go to California and Disneyland for the first time
ReplyDeleteDon't feel bad...when I use to work I have played the game "right eye left eye"...when at a stop light. It's bad if your eyes decide not to take turns and they both close! :)
ReplyDeleteLaura@MiceInTheKitchen

ReplyDeleteMy fiance and I would go to Lake Huron, which I know doesn't sound like the most exotic place, but it IS where our wedding will be held, where we had our first kiss, where we like to vacation and so on and so forth. Plus, if you've never been to Lake Huron, you really can't say it isn't exotic, because believe me, the people of Up North are characters I tell ya.
ReplyDelete6 years ago I did a mission trip to Kingston, Jamaica. I met some lovely people, even a friend whom I've kept in touch with. I would love to travel to a beach there [since we were in the city], but also connect with my friend!
ReplyDeleteAfter the winter we've had... definitely a beach! I don't care where, as long as its warm!
ReplyDeleteI've taken cat naps during my prep period! Don't sweat it!
ReplyDeleteIf I won the giveaway, I'd like to go the South East!

ReplyDeleteOuterbanks-a place my hubby has always wanted to take me and we would love to go together now that we live so close!
ReplyDeleteYou are a way nicer teacher than I am, as soon as I get a sniff of 'teenage love' I split those students up way across the room, though perhaps that's easier with high schoolers than middle schoolers. Middle schooler got mad drama.
ReplyDeleteDream beach vacation would be Hawaii, I keep trying to convince Mr. B we can afford this and don't need passports would save us money...I don't think he is drinking that koolaid.
We would go to lake Havasu City to take our son back to where he served his mission last year. So he could visit and go in the Lake, haha.

ReplyDeleteHawaii!!!!
ReplyDeleteI would go to Europe!
ReplyDeletematchmaking teacher?! you are awesome. hope it works out. :)
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, I also have fallen asleep in class... as the teacher. I used to have a big printer right next to my desk and I could totally have them start their assignments and then sit down and hide behind the printer for a minute... It was also the year I was a senior in college and had about 15 too many things on my plate. I think I might have been out for about 10 minutes one time. OOPS!
ReplyDeleteI would go visit my friends on the east coast through Connecticut and Jersey. I would get to get away and relax at least for a little bit.
ReplyDeleteclassy_mommie@yahoo.com
