We work because he tells me I'm pretty and because I can never get enough of his sexy jawline.
We work because he's willing to go to big get togethers with me on a weekend night as long as I promise to watch the next Transformers with him.
We work because he does the grocery shopping on a Saturday night when I have to chaperon a school dance and he buys the wrong kinds of lettuce and gets frazzled trying to find minced garlic and pineapple juice but he doesn't complain.
We work because when he says dirty, inappropriate things to me I reply, "Oh, that's so romantic!" and I mean it.
We work because we are both passionate, stubborn people who hate to be wrong. And because I won't let him leave the room when I'm trying to prove a point until he finally says, "Bonnie! I am going to explode if you don't give me a minute!" and that's my cue that he means it and I need to stop arguing and give the boy some peace and quiet.
We work because he sends me texts that say "Great post today, Bon," and because he lets me write about him all over the internet and only gets mildly embarrassed when my great aunts know every last detail of his life.
We work because we pray together and we teach ten year olds about Jesus together and because we are so grateful to God for putting us in each others' paths.
We work because he puts an effort in with my big, loud family and because I have no complaints about small, intimate dinners out with his.
We work because he does accents and voices and then I do them back and he tells me my voices are an embarrassment to his craft, and that I have no training and I respond, "I SO SAWRY!" and he just laughs.
We work because he shows up at school unexpectedly to surprise me with lunch on his day off and he watches me teach and when the tikes file out he says "I don't know how you do this job."
We work because we support each other's dreams even though they're totally crazy and wild and because we both crave adventure and because when I say on Wednesday, "Do you want to go to Vegas this weekend?" he says yes and on Friday we're on our way.
We work because we both like the room cold when we sleep and the door shut. Because we let the sheets go too long without changing them but neither one of us mind. Because he lets me eat tortilla chips in bed and only gets mildly annoyed when the bed's filled with crumbs the next day.
We work because he watches The Kardashians with me.
We work because I buy his favorite energy drink at the gas station.
We work because he's a dreamer and I'm a realist. Because I'm loud and he's quiet. Because I save and he spends, because he follows rules and I break them all.
We work because we work. Because we fight like crazy for our marriage and because we try to be better and kinder and more sensitive even though it can be so hard sometimes. We work because we are crazy about each other even in the worst of times. We work because I know he would do anything in the world for me at the drop of a hat and because he lets me know I am always his number one priority no matter what.
Both Taylor and I wrote our own Why We Work posts in honor of Vday and now it's your turn! Take this chance to brag about your relationship. Of course you can write about your honey buns, but you don't have to limit it to significant others. You can write about your mom, your pet, your best friend, whoever! Tell us why it works, slap that image somewhere on the post and link up on the bottom!
Bonnie,
ReplyDeleteThis was such a wonderful post. So truthful and heartfelt, it had me teary eyed by the end! I am so happy that God blessed you with such a wonderful person to call your other half. You two make a wonderful family!
You two are beautiful amazing people!! I love this post so much - I'll try and do one tomorrow too. Cause this was so fun to read :)
ReplyDeleteThis is so special! Thank you for your tid-bits on why your relationship works Bonnie! xxx
ReplyDeleteLink-up virgin here. I think I named it wrong. Oh well, it's a good story so make sure you read it. :) Btw - I see nothing but adorable all over these photos. Your kid's gonna be just fine. Just, just fine.
ReplyDeleteThis is so sweet. :) Love it! Happy Valentines Day to you guys!
ReplyDeleteThis is so precious!
ReplyDeleteThis was the cutest!! You two are just adorable! You have no need to worry about a ugly kid, because the two of you are the cutest!!
ReplyDeleteThis was so sweet! And men, bless their hearts...they just can't ever find everything on the list at the grocery store!
ReplyDeleteThis is so me and my husband: We work because he does accents and voices and then I do them back and he tells me my voices are an embarrassment to his craft, and that I have no training and I respond, "I SO SAWRY!" and he just laughs.
ReplyDeleteY'all are adorable!
This post and the two of you are so adorable.
ReplyDeleteThis is PERFECT. I remember making Andrew read your post a while back about how different you and Greg are...because it sounded EXACTLY like Andrew and me. You wanting to go out, and Greg wanting to stay in. I struggle with that, and we're still learning how to compromise--but this post makes me so happy! Thank you for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI love this - you guys really are an image of a real life, amazing relationship with all the highs, lows, and in-betweens!
ReplyDeleteI love this!!! You guys are absolutely perfect!! I love that you realize how important the little things are. I'm so happy just reading this :)
ReplyDeleteLove this post! It really is about working hard to make marriage successful. So awesome you have so much fun together! Thank for hosting! P.S. Last night was the first time we watched The Kardashians! Addicting lol!
ReplyDeleteAny man that willingly watches the Kardashians with you is a keeper! Every time I have that show on I swear my boyfriend flees to the further room of the house and won't come out until it's over.
ReplyDeleteSo fun to read! I love that you said you work because you fight like crazy for your marriage. So many couples don't do that anymore! Love how much fun you two seem to have together!
ReplyDeleteEva Marie
I really love reading the posts about you two! I hope to have something just as awesome one day.
ReplyDelete"because we are so grateful to God for putting us in each others' paths." At first I read "pants" instead of "paths", and I thought that was infinitely funny.
ReplyDeleteYou guys are very sweet! I secretly am excited to get married one day and have my husband bring be lunch at my school. And of course marvel at my extreme amazingness and handle of the teaching profession.
ReplyDeleteI just adored this! You two definitely work! xo
ReplyDeleteUgh. I have been dying to find this link up all day long!! I will post about mine tomorrow and still link up if it's open, I think this is a wonderful idea to post on!:) I had so much fun reading it!
ReplyDeleteI can't handle how sweet this is. I try not to write about (embarrass) my husband all over the internet, but I might have to after this. Can't let you guys have all the fun ;)
ReplyDeleteSide note - that Halloween photo is awesome!

ReplyDeleteLoved doing this link-up!! Also loved reading your post, so sweet!
ReplyDeleteY'all are too darn cute!
ReplyDeleteYou guys are great. This post is great. I feel like I know both of you and I just stumbled across your blog for the first time today.
ReplyDeleteThis is adorable. I am a teacher as well and my husband has come in a few times to help out with my class and when he walks out the door he says the same thing. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is SO adorable! Thanks for sharing about your sweet marriage! xoxo Amanda
