It's a...

Dress: Nordstrom
GIRL!

We are over the moon.

I keep thinking of all the things I want for my little girl.  All the things I hope she becomes, and does, and learns.

I hope she is kind and soft, and yet I hope she is tough.
I hope she has close friendships with other women- with her grandmas, her friends, her sisters (?!) and especially me, her mom.
I hope she likes to read.  I hope she understands the importance of education.
I hope she knows that she can be whatever she wants to be.  That she can be a doctor or a lawyer or an engineer.  I hope she knows that no doors are closed to her because she is a woman.
I hope she makes the boys chase her and I hope she makes the boys wait.
I hope she has an especially close relationship with her dad and trusts him more than any other man in this world.  I hope she will be able to go to him with her worries and troubles.
I hope she feels valued and safe in our family and in this world.  I hope that she feels like she contribute and make a difference in society, in school, in church.
I hope I'm the first person she tells when she gets her first kiss.
I hope she demands respect from others and doesn't let others talk down to her.
I hope she is thoughtful, kind, considerate, full of charity.  I hope she thinks of others.
I hope she will let me paint her fingernails.
I hope she knows how much her Heavenly Father loves her- that she is His daughter and that He will look after her and guide her and help her whenever she needs him.

Those are my hopes for my daughter.

  52. Woo hoo! Shopping for little girl things is so much fun! You look so great, Bonnie. That dress is the cutest.

You guys are going to be great parents!

Regarding your "sore nipples and other worries" ;), I would say just don't worry so much, you will do great. We all have different struggles and joys. Maybe you will have sore nipples, maybe not...(but probably). ;)

Maybe you'll have an epidural or maybe not.

Maybe this new little one will actually bring you and Greg closer together...(actually I'm pretty certain she will)!

However, I can say for certain that with all the questions and uncertainty and worry that come along with these tiny little people, you will feel an even greater amount of joy and purpose and love and happiness!

Before you know it your little family will find a new normal and it will seem like you were always a family of three!

I feel like I'm kind of rambling on, but I'll leave you with one of my favorite quotes pertaining to motherhood. I like to keep it in mind when I'm feeling uncertain or start comparing myself to other mothers. It's from Elder M. Russell Ballard: "There is no one perfect way to be a good mother... Each mother has different challenges, different skills and abilities, and certainly different children... What matters is that a mother loves her children deeply and, in keeping with the devotion she has for God and her husband, prioritizes them above all else.
