The Life of Bon: Let's do this, third trimester.

Let's do this, third trimester.

29 weeks.  6 1/2 months.

Dress:  F21, Cardigan: Gap, Undertee: H&M, Necklace: Mia Earrings (Use code lifeofbon20 for 20% off), shoes: Gap

There's a mad shadow on the wall and somehow a basket filled to the brim with shoes made it into these "fashion" pictures, but these days I'm just not being too picky about what the pictures of me wearing clothes look like.  Oh, and ignore the heavy black leggings I'm wearing underneath my sheer, bright sundress.  Students get to see way too much of my legs if I try to sport that dress otherwise. Pervs.

Someone somewhere decided that they were going to divide a pregnancy up into three stages.  My guess is that person was a man.  Trimesters just don't make sense.  To start with, a pregnancy is 40 weeks and 40 weeks does not divide evenly into three.  Around the world people are confused.  When does the first trimester end?  When does the third trimester begin? 26 weeks?  No, 28!  How about 26 and 2/3 weeks?  (And how do you get 2/3 of a week... I mean, how many days is that?!?)

Yes.  It was definitely a man who invented pregnancy trimesters.  That, or the 14 year old boys that write the pregnancy websites.

I've done a little bit of thought.  Pregnancy should really be divided up into quarters.  40 divides by 4 a heckuva lot easier than it does by 3, I'll tell you that much.

Quarter 1:  Through 10 weeks:  This is the "I can't get out of bed and I feel sick every single day" quarter.  It's a real gem, quarter one.
Quarter 2:  11-20 weeks: This is also known as the "You look fat, but not pregnant stage."  It's a very ambiguous time.
Quarter 3: 21-30 weeks:  The "pregnancy is fun" stage!  You look definitely pregnant! But still cute!  You feel great.  Your husband gives you lots of massages!
Quarter 4: 31-40 weeks:  The miserable stage....?!  I don't know.  I've only heard rumors.

See?  My system makes a lot more sense.

In other news, a student misspelled his own name on his paper today.  It's May 7, 2014 and I am officially giving up for the rest of the year.

  1. yes quarters make MUCH more sense! I like it! Also- why do they count your pregnant before you have even ovulated... also doesn't make sense since you don't ovulate for generally 14 days after the first day of your period, but according to all that you are already "2 weeks pregnant" so weird.

Oh my gosh I love your quarters version. I'm in quarter 2 by your system and totally feeling the fat look - my pants don't fit right but it looks like it's just a too-many-burritos thing and not a baby-growing thing!!

  3. LOL. I once studied really hard for a spelling test in third grade then left a letter out of my last name and got minus one point for spelling it wrong. I would have got 100% on the test if not for that. I was devastated.

  5. Your pregnancy quarters fit well with our school quarter feelings as well...
Quarter 1- I don't want to get out of bed because these kids drive me crazy right now.
Quarter 2- You feel like you're getting somewhere but the results aren't looking like you want them to.
Quarter 3- You feel like you're finally getting somewhere and kids are LEARNING! WOO HOO!!
Quarter 4- Alright, is it over yet?

  7. I got a ton of awesome clothes at F21 when I was pregnant! I thought it was ironic that a store for 21 year olds had great pregnancy clothes haha! You look great!!

  10. Hahaha this is definitely accurate!!! And the last 10 weeks are quite rough. It's hard to walk, and that thing you're carrying around in your belly is so heavy you should probably go ahead and hire someone to walk with you and have them help you hold up your belly! It's definitely on my to-do list for NEXT TIME!!! School's almost out! Go ahead and give up! Apparently THAT KID already has! LOLOL

  11. As a math teacher, I am a fan of the quarters. Definitely makes more sense. As far as teaching goes, I'm with you as well. I am done with it as well.

  12. quarters make MUCH more sense and pregnancy is not 9 months. 40 weeks?! helllllo, who did that math? I am two weeks behind you at 26 weeks and love reading/seeing your updates. keep it up! you look great :)

  13. I totally agree with the quarters too! I always hate doing to math for trimesters. I think its weird to say 9 months too. If there are about 4 weeks per month then 40 weeks is closer to 10 months. And you look great! :)

  16. Hahaha I'm glad I took the time to read this one, because a student misspelling his name is a winner. And I can't believe you are in third trimester already! My first pregnancy I loved up until the last moment and missed it once it was gone. And with the second, while I wouldn't have said I didn't like it at the time, afterwards I felt SO much better and had so much more energy that I realized just how bad I had actually felt... So hopefully you have the first time luck! ;) And luckily you will be starting summer and hopefully not working at all so you can just lie around resting and having people get you stuff. That's the way to go.

You are utterly adorable. That belly. That smile. Those shoes.
I definitely think that your pregnancy breakdown makes more sense. I've never understood the trimester thing, but just chalked it up to the fact that I've not had children.

I've actually misspelled my own name on a test before when I was super nervous. It's silly and my teacher had a great laugh at my expense lol

  18. I dunno. Stage Four was still pretty fun. Exciting, really. You still get to be cute and pregnant (just much, much bigger). (Full disclosure: I am fascinated and excited by pregnancy, labour and delivery. It blows my mind and is one of the coolest series of events. Ever. I am crunchy. ;) ) And yes. FOUR stages. Much better idea. We should lobby to make this A Thing.

You look great! Enjoy the last few weeks of pregnancy! :)
